Vietnam insists buying India's BrahMos missile is for self-defense

During a regular press conference of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang was asked by a reporter to confirm whether Vietnam has taken delivery of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles from India.

Le Thi Thu Hang said: “The comprehensive strategic partnership Vietnam – India has been actively developing in many fields such as economics, trade, investment, culture and education and national security. Defense and security cooperation between the two countries makes practical contribution to the peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the world. It is also important to emphasize that we maintain our policy of peaceful defense and self-defense. The purchase of Vietnam’s defense equipment is in line with the defense policy of peace and self-defense and is a normal defense of the country.”
